Mr. Heller is a senior Partner and founding Member of Somer & Heller LLP. He joined the predecessor firm of Stanley J. Somer & Associates, P.C. in 1995 and in 2000 the partnership of Somer & Heller LLP was formed. Mr. Heller received his undergraduate degree (cum laude) in finance and international business from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and his law degree from Brooklyn Law School. During law school Mr. Heller was selected as a law clerk to the Hon. Cornelius Blackshear, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of New York and also served in a position with the United States Attorney’s office for the Eastern District of New York in the Civil Department, in addition to working for various private firms.

Mr. Heller brings over twenty years of experience to the practice. Prior to joining the firm in 1995, Mr. Heller honed his skills in private practice while working for firms in Manhattan and Nassau County in the areas of civil and commercial litigation and creditor’s rights matters. After joining the firm, Mr. Heller helped to expand the practice to provide services to its clients, both individual and corporate/business, in the fields of bankruptcy/creditor’s rights, matrimonial and family law (now including collaborative law) and personal injury. Mr. Heller specializes in these areas as well as in lease drafting and negotiations, real estate transactions, corporation and partnership formations and civil and commercial litigation. Mr. Heller has a unique ability to problem solve client issues and provide a practical approach to the resolution of legal matters.

Mr. Heller is actively involved in community civic associations, advocating for regional development and planning and youth sports associations.

He is admitted to practice in the Federal and State Courts of New York, New Jersey and Florida and he is a member of the Florida State, New York State and Suffolk County Bar Associations as well as the Collaborative Law Association of New York.

Mr. Heller resides in East Northport with his wife of twenty-two years and his two sons. In his time outside the office, Mr. Heller enjoys boating, golfing and attending sporting events and rock concerts with his sons.
